Ever had housemates that snooped?

I am afraid that this home that I've rented a room since December of 2007 isn't any different than the last in SandPoint, WA. Of course I was given authorized use of Harvey's work/tool room in his home and access to the mail room, even rights to his vehicle at times until I was fed up with being exploited to being his chauffeur.

There is no privacy and housemates enter my room while I am away for the day or just for a run around the block or so. I come back only to find things in disorder or different from the way I left it. Granted there are common areas in this home that is unavoidable to have our things compiled together; such as the laundry room, the kitchen: fridge, counter space, sink, drawers and cabinets full of utensils, cups and plates; the mail room, living room furniture, the drive way and yard that we housemates share space in. But our bedrooms are OFF LIMITS to each other while we're not present, and that should be cardinal rule in this house as per the rental agreement signed prior to moving in.

The copy of my key to my bedroom was given to the owner of the house and no other person, such as housemates. For some reason things aren't just how it should be around here, and it's making me think twice in leaving my laptop alone and vulnerable, while I'm off running down and around the block. Someone had cracked the lining of my door to my bedroom, cracked the piece of board that's part of my treadmill to make it operable, than there was damaged done to my dresser drawer as well.

It's unfortunate that I don't feel safe in this home as the house in SandPoint late last year, 2007. I don't believe that I have crossed that line of invading others space or stealing anyone else's things in this house; such as perishables: food or furniture in the living room space or tampering with other's mail. Perhaps I have used someone's item precious to another housemate, but just didn't realize it.  Such as the use of a mop that was in the common room closet, it's now stationed in the outer bathroom. A lesson that tells me I shouldn't sweep/mop the kitchen floor when necessary, or probably just use some other mop than the one in their bathroom. The electricity and water bill are common expenses that we all are responsible for; which makes believe that my treadmill that's runs off of electricity a few times a week was sabotaged and now sits damaged and inoperable in my bedroom.  All my fitness equipment located outside my bedroom, have now after three months of living here, relocated inside my bedroom. I've come to realize that I've been the housemate that spends most of my days indoors with the lights on, and thus increases the chance of the utility bill that we all share expenses with. Harvey at my last place of residence just advised me that the cost of living went up and that he will have to increase my rent by $20.00. Which was justified after realizing the amount heat coming from my bathroom to permeate warmth within my whole studio apartment. Groceries however, was more convenient to transport over at Harvey's than it is here, so the expense is off set by some varied measure in commuting.

There is no view outside to my bedroom so I keep the shades down all day without any sunlight to read with. There are several video surveillance cameras that are located on the outside corners of the studio apartment just across the back yard from me, not to mention the person that lives there parks his car outside his front door, leaving me with little or no privacy in raising the shades. So I keep it down with less stress to deal with.

I would like to get out and about more frequently, instead of being stuck here accused by the rest of my housemates that I'm not as conservative in my usage with the electricity, possibly water  as well as they are.  Only stir animosity, bitterness and malice in their minds; but if I manage to finance a vehicle soon, I can make it to some libraries nearby to study instead of being a full time student that doesn't leave home. No less in their belief is whatever the public has been thinking about my identity for whatever length of time since living here.

I ensure that I leave this house with my laptop every time all the time now; because of the risk of losing out in having my laptop sabotaged, even if I've bought warranty for it until 2009.   An successful sabotage of my laptop would leave me without the convenient access to my online course room to interact with other learners, my instructor as well as to post my weekly essays, or for my final paper in the course. My first laptop was sabotaged and I just can't afford losing this one, which cost a good sum of funds. My sabotaged treadmill cost me $500.00 for only one month's use in this house, what good will it do me if I don't protect the rest of my personal items from my housemates that appear so untrustworthy and with malicious intent in their hearts.
