I'm Samoan American, a Pacific Islander and not Asian folks!

Those of you that are still confused or doubtful about my identity such as the FEDS, here are my before and after pics from my childhood, through adulthood; for what it's worth.

My intuition tells me that there is an impression that others think that I'm Asian for some odd reason.  Possibly due to my stretching ritual, or mild yoga practices every night before bed to either crack/pop my back into its proper place, or to loosen up those tight muscles down in my core group of muscles from my prolong sitting, and my work outs done a few times during the week. Stretching helps to alleviate the pain, so I can have a full nights rest, and avoiding suffering with lower back spasms and sciatic pain.

I have also have grown to have an interest in tea drinking, over bottled water; I don't have the luxury, funds nor the back strength to transport a jug of water or a case of bottled water home from the grocery store like others do having their personally owned vehicles. Therefore, drinking tea is my option over our tap water which is a health risk not worth taking, this is why I bought a tea kettle, to sanitize most of the tea that I drink most of my day.  I drink Coffee and Cocoa only in the mornings upon awakening; due to it helping me to shake off the sedative effect from my daily intake of my prescribed medications.  Coffee and Cocoa helps me to become alert and attentive, but it also makes me bloated aside from being diuretic drinks that promotes constipation; so I have chosen to stick with tea to quench my thirst or keep my core muscles lubricated, or loose at the completion of breakfast.

Everyone in my household growing up in Hawaii got to love tea because it was part of our stapled drinks aside from iced water, coffee, cocoa and fruit juices.  American Samoa has villages with land that produces Samoan Cocoa, I know because family visiting our family from American Samoa brought with them some Cocoa solids, only to cut, shred and pound into a powder like base that would be added to some hot water and become a hot beverage.  My siblings and I grew up eating tea and rice, cocoa and rice or hot tea with loaves of bread bought freshly baked (soft and warm) from a bakery nearby, with a spread of butter and jelly on it for breakfast.  Tea in Hawaii was a major part of society as a whole growing up, it wasn't just Asians that drank it, a lot of other pacific islanders did as well. Ice tea from Lipton, was a major brand that was part of our household growing up and apparetly nothing hasn't changed much either from my impression on my last visit home because my dad, my ma, cousins and nephews all drank herbal tea from a can that had Ginseng in it. The concept of drinking tea, seemingly is unfortunately misperceived by most living up here in the main stream of society away from the melting pot society that thrives to live cross culturally, or as an integrative Hawaii, more so than any other pacific islands found in Polynesia.

Any questions? Ask any pacific islander, or other indigenous locals that are inter-racial (Samoans, Tongans, Tahitians, Guamanians, etc...) that were raised most or all of their lives in Hawaii.

I'm near sighted but these glasses prolongs my ability to read more than I typically would due to weariness in my eyes.  I've noticed within the last year or so that computer screens makes my eyes weary more rapidly than if I wasn't to wear them.  It is as if I was to be driving at night with a dirty windshield, with my eyes working extra hard to see what's on the path in front of me.  If I don't wear my glasses while in front of a computer screen, in front a car windshield while driving or while reading a book, that my eyes would start to itch, sting, sag which indicates low tolerance without them on while reading or watching something off of a screen or not. So forgive me for wearing them while watching a movie, I just want enjoy the movie without having my eyes to start to strain and worsen with a headache as the movie continues on. Otherwise all the lights in the room would have remain on to assist my eyes from working in excess watching, reading or driving, and generating cheek bags like that of an senior citizen.

But you FEDS do INSIST on seeing my Eyeballs, my Facial muscles, my Testicles, my Walk, my Stools, my Urine, my Pectorial muscles, my Signatures, my Family, my Final Academic Scores, my Winter Quarter's  Assignments Posted with all my Syntax or Grammar Errors for the whole world to view, only to slander and mock me as a Fool, Underachiever or Incompetent Student. Had I not tried to live in any obscurity a long time ago, maybe I would've been vindicated by now.

Anyhow it's obvious that I can't have anything to hide from you FEDS! Nevertheless, I'm not afraid to show you FEDS my whole Life without any obscurity, because it's a fact that I have nothing to hide, and that you've falsely accused me of anything or being anyone else other than myself, Mickey Tovio Scanlan, a US National Samoan American, with only a matter of time before I will be redeemed and liberated from all your surveillance cameras, hidden or not, or a life full of ridiculous restrictions!

Most Sincere,
Mickey Tovio Scanlan
